These students embody the JLMN mission of promoting voluntarism, helping the community through effective action, and improving the lives of children at risk. This year's winners are: Mark Bovich of Verona, who has worked as a camp counselor for adults with developmental disabilities and helped rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in Bay St. Louis, MS, among many other initiatives; Michael Donnelly of Montclair, who spends over 20 hours a week volunteering with the Glen Ridge and Newark Ironbound ambulance squads; Brooke Briody of Montclair, who initiated several fundraisers and led an awareness campaign for Rwanda Teens for Life (of which she is co-president), which supports victims of the Rwandan Genocide of 1994; and Elizabeth Horowicz of Montclair, who has raised over $75,000 over six years as the founder and teen coordinator of Bowling for HOMECorp, which helps to fund the organization's mission to provide safe, permanently affordable housing in Montclair.
